I admittedly had to look this one up- I have never really heard the term. I have heard of strange people writing their own versions of Harry Potter stories, and I thought that was odd. I've never read or written a fanfic, so honestly I'm a little lost on this post.
I guess I wouldn't mind if Eowyn and Faramir from the Lord of the Rings had a little more of their love story told- but I think I would want to hear it from Tolkien, not some fan who felt like making it up. I guess I'll have to find him in Heaven and ask him what he would have written. :)
