The Best Apple Crisp Ever (at least according to Ryan and I)
Filling:
4 cups cubed baking apples (don't peel them)
1/3 cup raisins
1 tbsp flour
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
Dash of Nutmeg
Dash of Cloves
Topping:
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup regular rolled oats
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
dash of salt
1/4 cup chilled butter cut into small pieces
Preheat oven to 375
Combine all the ingredients for the filling in a large bowl and toss to coat the apples evenly. Spoon the mixture into an 8x8 baking dish coated with non-stick spray.
To make the topping combine the flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon and salt in a bowl and stir to combine. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles very course meal. Sprinkle oat mixture evenly over the apples. Bake at 375 for 40-50 minutes or until browned on top and filling is bubbly.
Enjoy!
